RODENT SERVICES

Good rodent control begins with a thorough inspection to identify entry points and harborage areas. Entry points must be properly sealed, and traps placed in the harborage areas. To seal entry points, use wire lath instead of foam sealers as rodents can chew right through foam. In most cases, the rain down spouts must be sealed. Rodents use down spouts like a ladder to the roof where they can then find entry points into the structure. Commonly, rodents can enter the structure through roof ridge vents and compromised soffit, and they only need an opening the size of a quarter to enter. Hence, identifying entry points is a high priority. Homeowners may be required to make certain preps, such as cutting back trees and eliminating food sources such as bird feeders and outside pet food. For example, dog food is high in Vitamin K which can be an antidote to rodenticides. Rodents can also pose serious health risks, such as disease from rodent bites and contamination from droppings. It is believed that 25% of unidentified fires are from rodents chewing electrical wiring and gas lines.

PEST CONTROL

Safe, effective pest control consists of a thorough inspection, first identifying pests and then using the minimum amount of pesticide, precisely placed. For example, this does not include base board painting, but focuses treatment on entry points, as well as moisture areas of the structure. The entire outside perimeter of the structure is treated. Spider webs are swept down, as well as killing and knocking down wasps and mud dauber nests on the exterior. For most of our customers, quarterly outside perimeter is all that is required to keep their home pest free once the inside is cleared. Most services are quarterly; however, we do offer monthly, bi-monthly, and semi-annual treatment plans, depending on the customer’s needs. Zap offers a full guarantee and will treat the interior of the structure at no additional charge if the pests appear between scheduled services.

COMMON INSECTS TREATED

*German roaches usually require monthly service, then switch to quarterly service after cleanout is achieved, which is usually in 3 to 6 months. Zap uses insect growth regulators, (which make the roaches sterile), along with bait and fast knockdown products.
